ABOUT US
Who We Are
St. Matthew's Episcopal Church is made up of people from a variety of walks of life. Some have been here their whole lives. Some have only started a few weeks ago. But together, we strive to be a community of faith that follows Jesus and proclaims the Gospel in our words and deeds.
All are invited into the full life and worship of this community, regardless of race, sexuality, gender identity, or physical or mental ability. No matter who you are or where you are in your faith journey, you are welcome here! All means all.

What We Believe
As members of the Episcopal Church, we believe and follow Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. We believe in God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. We uphold the Bible and worship with the Book of Common Prayer. The Celebration of the Eucharist is the central act of worship in accordance with Jesus's command to His disciples, and Holy Communion may be received by all baptized Christians, not only members of the Episcopal Church.

What Makes Us Episcopalians
The Episcopal Church is part of the worldwide Anglican Communion with 70 million members in 165 countries. The word "Episcopal" refers to leadership by bishops. The historic episcopate continues the work of the first apostles in the Church, guarding the faith, unity and discipline of the Church.
For Episcopalians, three strands of authority guide the search for truth:
- Scripture: The Bible, living and dynamic, is the basis for liturgy and worship.
- Tradition: We look to tradition to guide us in knowing the truth.
- Reason: We are a people who ask questions, employ logic, and test our faith in the world.
