CHILDREN AND YOUTH
Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children: Give us calm strength and patient wisdom as we bring them up, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Children's Ministry
Beginning in fall 2026, St. Matthew’s Children's Sunday school will meet at 9:15AM, at the same time as Adult Formation and Youth Formation. They will be using the Montessori curriculum, Godly Play.
During the 10:30AM service, all children (ages 4-10) are invited to Children's Chapel. They leave during the hymn before the Gospel reading, are given an age-appropriate lesson/story/activity, and return before the celebration of the Holy Eucharist.

Youth Ministry
Beginning in fall 2026, Youth will gather at 9:15AM for Formation.
The cornerstone of Youth Ministry at St. Matthew's is the
Acolyte Ministry. Youth aged 10-18 take an active role in the 10:30AM liturgy, serving as cross-bearers, torch-bearers, gospel bearers, and assisting with the setting of the altar at Communion.
Youth acolytes regularly participate in the West Virginia Acolyte's Festival and the National Acolyte's Festival at the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C.

Nursery
The nursery is open for children ages birth through age four. Childcare is provided in the lower-level of Mathes Hall every Sunday starting at 10:15AM until the end of the service.
